This piece is very sensual. I love the mood that it creates, and how much it creates a sense of being present and experiencing these sensations. There are parts of it that feel a bit conventionally romantic, but overall it's a beautiful examination of the physical emotions of sex. I especially love the reference to the deep water and the feeling of immersion in the experience--that's certainly what reading this poem was like.

This piece has the same effect of making the experiences real to the reader, although the experiences in it are entirely opposite from Adi's. It almost hurt to read, which I think is a testament to the strength of the imagery. It's never quite clear what the real intent of the speaker's lover is, and it's the ambiguity that makes this such an interesting piece.

Both of these pieces are strong; both are faithful to the subject while managing to be completely different; both incorporate engaging imagery. It's a difficult choice...

But I'm going to have to go with Adimurti's poem. While both poems had strong emotion, I think Akashya's relied just a bit too much on shock value to carry some of it. It was a very close call, though, and I loved how both of your poems had such effective imagery to carry them through.

Alright, let's get this show on the road!

Aaaaand in the far corner, wearing the blue shorts (well, mermaid short thingies), he's a collosseum veteran with untold wins under his belt. He’s the man every man wants to be, and although sadly it ends badly, just nobody can resist… Adi!



And in the other corner, wearing the black, we have new blood in the collosseum! Straight from the realm of Hades, she has a bone to pick! <insert groan for obvious pun here> She guards the gates of hell (although tonight’s her night off), she is… Cerberus!



This duel is a regular (in name only!) duel which will be composed of each combatant’s respective acrostic poems over the subject of mythology. The bet is 3k, and there is no time limit for the respective entries. The poems will be judged by yours truly (who is obviously often extremely bored very thorough, as evidenced by this post) when both poems are in, so to avoid complications try to have both your poems fully edited before putting it in the dueling grounds, else I might judge the unedited versions.
